A Win for the Establishment

The GOP Debate was yesterday. Voters learned some interesting things from the candidates. Donald Trump, is fading away and is now refusing to play in the mud, except when it comes to the debate moderators. What we learned was that none of them like answering questions, Trump doesn’t like being questioned even when it comes to something he stated about immigration. Especially dealing with H-1B visas he was asked a question about why he criticized Zuckerberg of Facebook, in which Trump acted as if he didn’t state it, however it was on his campaign website.

The question dealt with Marco Rubio, whom Trump referred to as Zuckerberg’s personal senator. Donald Trump took hypocrisy to an all-new level last night, which is not surprising for the candidate. Rubio went on to talk about how if he were president he’d go back to a merit based system of immigration. The statue of Liberty reads the following “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breath free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, tempest lost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door.” The author was Emma Lazarus, who wrote the poem “The New Colossus.”

Governor Huckabee defended criminal Bernie Madoff, his claim is that the government steals more money than Bernie Madoff. Madoff who ripped off people in a ponzi scheme. Madoff ripped off thousands of people while committing this crime.

Dr. Carson doesn’t think the Federal Government has any business regulating the cost of prescription drugs. He believes the market will take care of it. So in the Republicans America we don’t need the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the market will handle these problems. Governor Christie (Not a Medical Doctor) agrees with Dr. Carson (Actual Medical Doctor, believe it or not) that medication drug pricing should not be regulated. Rand Paul is a libertarian like his father, they don’t believe in any government regulations. Sammy Hager gets his wish he will finally be able to drive 55 MPH or over, in Rand Paul’s America. So naturally a second actual medical doctor agrees with Dr. Carson, that drug manufacturers should be able to price gouge Americans.

Then we get to the Federal Reserve which Dr. Paul wants to audit. A bit of background may be necessary here, the Federal Reserve is responsible for setting prices, for certain goods essentially they protect Americans from price gouging. But in Senator Paul’s America that does not exist. Does exist in any Republican’s America?

Now to Carly Fiorina, who stated that the govenrment shouldn’t be in the business of making Federal Minimum Wage laws. Does she beleive the Federal Government has a responsibility to make laws? The thing is Republcians love States Rights, unless a state legalizes marijuana, gay marriage or raises the minimum wage, along with a who host of other things. Fiorina just handed the elction to the Democrats if she is the nominee. She can’t win a naitonal election, especially because of her minimum wage comment last night. She will be out of this race soon.

Now to the Establishment candidates, even though Senators Paul and Rubio are the establishment. The candidate who won was the one candidate who needed to win, that would be former Governor Jeb Bush. Bush held his own, on the debate stage. The person who’d come in second would be Senator Marco Rubio of Florida. Rubio was able to turn issues that may hurt him in the general into positives. The only other candidate who would have finished third, would be Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. Cruz came out swinging. As much as these three candidates think of themselves as outsiders, there is nothing further from the truth. The debate was a clear win for the republican establishment.

Paul Ryan the Hypocrite

So Congressmen Paul Ryan of Wisconsin has decided that he is willing to be Speaker of the House. As long as his Republican Party comes together to elect him as their next speaker, along with some other demands, which are listed below. He made three demands; the one is something that Congressmen Ryan has consistently wanted for those in Congress but not for working men and women in America. However it is expected that for once the Republicans would decide to take their own party hostage. Time with his family, no working weekends Motion to Vacate the Chair, No Longer Broad support from House Republicans

The first demand from Congressmen Ryan is an issue that he fundamentally does not believe for those who make up the Middle Class and working people in this nation. The year was 2009 when the Federal Employees Paid Parental Leave Act, Representative Ryan voted against the Act. This isn’t the only time Paul Ryan voted against a House Resolution to give America’s working families paid leave. He opposed the Family Act. The Family Act established a national paid leave program. Not only did the Family Act apply to paid leave, it applied to paid sick leave. Paul Ryan opposed the full resolution. Those who are employed at the House receive up to 12 weeks of unpaid family leave, but until they resign or are voted out of office they still receive a paycheck.

To Ryan’s second demand the motion to vacate the chair was created by Thomas Jefferson. This has been a weapon for the hard line Conservatives in the House, at trying to dethrone current House Speaker John Boehner. Here is the real issue with Congressmen Ryan wanting to undo the ‘Jefferson’ rule, the Republican Party claims to hold the Constitution sacred. While holding the founding document sacred, no one could see the Republican Party doing away with the rule that was instituted by the Third President of these United States. Ryan is a hypocrite here because he and his fellow Republicans tell the American People time and time again that is President Obama who doesn’t support the founding principles of this nation.

Congressmen Ryan’s final demand that he receive broad support from the Republican Party. It is not going to happen he may become the next Speaker of the House, but he won’t receive every single House Republican’s vote. Even now as the Freedom Caucus supports him. He did not secure their endorsement. Especially considering that the House Freedom Caucus AKA the people who started this whole thing, are running their own candidates

Finally the good news for working Families in America Paul Ryan’s presidential aspirations have ended. Speaker of the House is known as a dead end job, he can run as did former Speaker Gingrich. Gingrich did not make it out of the primary

Great News for the Biden Campaign

New polling shows President Obama is at 51 percent, lets now consider Ronald Reagan’s job approval average at 53 percent. Note: Not looking at President Obama’s job approval average. President H.W. Bushs’ job approval average was 61 percent, according to Gallup. Real Clear Politics gives the President an average of 45.3 percent for an approval rating.

Knowing President H.W. Bush ran off the legacy of President Reagan, Vice President Joe Biden could argue that if the Democrats choose him as their nominee he will continue on the legacy of President Obama.

Looking at the poll numbers for President Obama, it is looking more and more likely that if Biden runs he can make the case he will sail into the White House. The Vice Presidents approval rating is 48.2 percent, according to RCP. The case could be made that Biden is the more favorable candidate for the Democratic Party to go into the general election strongly.

Biden could end up taking the nomination from Clinton. The Clinton’s largely have looked at Biden as being somewhat of a joke. In 2008 Clinton did not think Senator Obama could beat her, and he went on to win the presidency.

Webb drops Out

Jim Webb ended his campaign to be the Democratic Party’s nominee for president. Webb was was more politically independent than aligned with the Democratic Party.

Webb is an interesting candidate, who never seem to be able to connect with the Democratic Voting Base, however it was unlikely that he’d be able to win the nomination. Webb hinted at the possibility of an independent run. Webb running as an independent is unlikely. However what political party selects him to be their candidate?

It is important to keep in mind that running as an independent equates to losing in the general election. The best bet for Webb is to try to obtain the vice presidency, or a cabinet position. However Don’t rule out a Trump, Webb ticket.
